The benefits of dry body brushing.Best forms of beauty




I talk a lot about skin around here.

Typically about all-natural skin products that keep your skin looking absolutely lovely while not adding to your body burden. This is because skin is the body’s largest organ, and it absorbs up to 60% of whatever we put on it — the average woman absorbs a whopping 4 lbs, 6 oz of skincare products through her skin each year! So these products better be healthy.

But just as the skin is an entry route for toxins, it is an important exit route as well.

The skin is one of the most important waste management organs of the body: it is responsible for eliminating 25% of the toxins in your body each day. This equals one pound everyday!
Dry body brushing helps your skin with this process by promoting the shedding of dead skin. It also stimulates the lymphatic system, which is part of the circulatory system and plays an important part in the immune system by eliminating toxins.

 

Dry body brushing has physical benefits as well, and is an important part of my beauty routine.

  • Since it helps shed dead cells, you are left with soft, supple skin.
  • It helps reduce cellulite by evenly distributing fat deposits.
  • It reduces the appearance of stretch marks by stimulating cell regeneration.
  • It can help reduce the risk of varicose veins.
  • By deterring ingrown hairs, it reduces the incidence of body acne.
  • It helps minimize water retention.
These are some pretty good reasons to dry body brush in and of themselves, huh?

Dry body brushing basics:

  • A natural-bristled brush is best for dry body brushing.
  • Always brush towards your heart (the direction the lymphatic fluid flows), lightly moving the brush in a in long strokes from your hands and feet in towards your torso.
  • Avoid any cuts, scrapes, or rashes as the brush will irritate them.
  • Dry brush before showering to wash off any impurities.
  • After showering, immediately moisturize (otherwise your skin will be very dry and tight). Remember to use an all-natural moisturizer, since it will be able to penetrate more deeply now that your skin is exfoliated! Coconut oil is my personal go-to body moisturizer.
  • Wash your brush ever 1-2 weeks with warm soap and some castile soap.

There is really no reason to NOT dry body brush!

It is quick (takes about five minutes a day) and cheap (a good brush costs around $5-$10 and will last you at least a year).
So get on it!

Dry body brushing is one of the simplest way to help your body detox. And it has some wonderful beauty benefits to boot!
