The best makeup for brown eyes. The best forms of beauty

I lived most of my teen/young adult years thinking that my brown eyes were “boring” while being jealous of people with green or blue eyes because it seemed that it was much easier to make them stand out. I was constantly trying to figure out the best makeup for brown eyes with no luck and it wasn’t until I was in cosmetology school that I learned about color theory and how to make brown eyes pop. It was at that moment that it all came together and even now, almost 10 years later, I’m still living by these rules when looking for makeup to compliment my eye color.
Brown eyes tend to have golden tones in them so they look best when they’re complimented with golden bronze shades and accented with navy or cobalt blue.
Yes – I said blue. Gone are the days of Mimi from The Drew Carey Show! The blue eyeshadow is different than that of the 1980s so don’t be afraid to rock it! Cobalt blue in all its bright glory helps orange tones come to life so it plays really well with golden brown eyes. Navy blue can be used in place of black as a liner or in a smoky look to add depth to a look while still providing some of that blue/gold color contrast that brown eyes love.
Try these:
Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigment in “Brash Blue”
Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Single in “Navy Night”
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in “Cobalt”
Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour Quad in “Summer in St. Tropez” (Limited Edition)
Eggplant works in the same way as blue since it compliments the yellow tones found in brown eyes. Eggplant mascara is a great choice for a subtle color pop as well as replacing black eyeshadow with a deep eggplant variety. I also like to use a dark purple eyeliner on my lower lash line for an added pop. Purple eyeshadow also has an added bonus – it helps the whites of your eyes to look brighter!
