Cellulite: The Unwanted Cottage Cheese

It is described as the dimpled appearance on skin that is caused by fat deposits that are just below the surface of the skin. Grade 3

-Cellulite has visible roughness of the skin (like an orange peel) along with all grade 2 signs.  Because there is nothing otherwise special or unique about the fat in those areas, cellulite occurs in both men and women, but it is much more common in women because they are more likely to have particular types of fat and connective tissue.

There are no proven facts on what causes cellulite for sure but some have suggested that a few major keep points in your life and lifestyle might have a reasoning for this unwanted cottage cheese look.

First, your hormones likely play an important role in cellulite development. Many believe estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin are part of the cellulite production process.

Removing of Cellulite
There are several therapies that have been suggested to remove cellulite, but none have been supported in the scientific or medical literature. Therapeutic methods that are physical or mechanical include massages that stimulate lymphatic flow, heat therapy, ultrasound, radio frequency therapy, magnetic therapy, radial wave’s therapy, and electrical stimulation. However, there is no solid evidence that these methods are effective.

Other removal strategies consist of drugs that are supposed to act on fatty tissues. There is a wide variation of pharmacological agents used, such as caffeine, beta-agonists and adrenaline, amino acids, and ginkgo biloba, among others. People with cellulite have tried to apply these agents topically, orally, or by injection, but again none have been proved effective.

Some people with cellulite wear special clothing called compression garments to reduce the appearance of cellulite. These garments try to compress arteries and increase blood and lymph flow to reduce visual cellulite.

Last, medical procedures can be done to help with the appearance of cellulite. These procedures include: liposuction, fat Injections, the lower body lift, endermologie, and injection lipolysis. While some of these procedures, such as fat injections and lower body lift, have been shown to be beneficial in appropriately selected patients, others such as injection lipolysis do not have any scientific data supporting their efficacy. Liposuction, while highly effective in reducing fat deposits and improving contour, sometimes makes cellulite appear worse.

When the time comes and you have had enough of your cellulite, keep this in mind when thinking about having a procedure on Cellulite reduction done; the techniques such as liposuction and body lifting actually do not remove cellulite. However, eating healthy, low-fat foods such as fruits, vegetables, and fiber can help one to avoid cellulite. Similarly exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing stress are recommended to prevent cellulite. In addition, wearing thongs, boyshorts, or looser fitting undergarments can prevent cellulite that might form due to tight elastic. Everything else is only a temporary fix and sooner or later will have to be redone or kept up regularly. You simply are better off changing your lifestyle healthier, and not just for your cellulite but for your self-confidence and overall happiness.
